Hygienic habits of physical and sports practice I

Physical activity provides and makes our students participate in a series of hygiene. Hygienic habits pretend to be enduring over time.

As for the hygiene habits are going to name the following:
- The hygiene of the body: We understand all that personal hygiene has to do with the student body, such as: daily cleaning with a shower or brushing your teeth daily (after breakfast, lunch and dinner).
After the physical activity is necessary to shower, but if this is not possible, at least change his shirt and wash your face as a secondary measure in case you can not use the shower immediately.
The hygiene is very important, and preventable diseases such as any type of skin infection, colds, cavities (in the case of not brushing teeth, etc.).
- The dress: This is another very important element, physical activity must be conducted with appropriate clothing, understanding proper sportswear tracksuit and running shoes suitable for physical activity. Along with these elements is important clothes, socks, sweatshirts, ... we use, as some materials more than others and perspire more recommendable course that best transpire. Then we will see some materials that are manufactured sportswear and which are best and worst:
- Cotton (CO): A natural fiber. Cotton is a breathable material, very resistant to wear and abrasion.
- Shirt: This is a modern high-tech fabric made of polyester or polyamide. The endless fibers are worked one at a time to form threads. The rain and wind that hardly cross this tissue but leaves the body sweat sweat well. Micro parts are extremely left sweating and light and soft, while resistant.
- Polyester (PES): Polyester is a synthetic chemical tissue completely. It occurs in different structures and densities, and usually blended with other fibers. The polyester is suitable especially for sportswear, swimwear, dresses, suits, ties and underwear.
- Polyamide (PA): The chemistry of synthetic fiber nylon is usually mixed with other tissues. It is resistant to tears, just wrinkles and dries quickly. Polyamide is normally used for swimwear, dresses, blouses and shirts and waterproof fabrics and filling.

Variety is the spice, prices vary depending on the materials with which the clothes are manufactured. Some materials are designed to be used for certain sports activities such as skiing, where the garments are made of polyamide.

The issue of hygiene and physical education is very broad and extensive, so we decided to give this little touch. In the next article we will see how we can work on creating hygiene.

Benefits of physical and sports practice

The PE teacher will be responsible for creating in our students the habits mentioned in the previous article, this training is essential for students to achieve the objectives sought.

The sports physical activity provides a range of benefits to our students, the first and most obvious, refers to beneficial habits that have to do with health. Then we will analyze how physical activity affects their health and provides effects in different organs and systems:

Physical activity influences on health:

1.- ON THE LOCOMOTIVE:

- Increase muscle mass (greater force).
- Increased amount of tendons and ligaments (higher tensile strength).
- Increased coordination and joint mobility.
- Delay muscle fatigue.
- Strengthening of the bone structure.
- Prevents atrophy and obesity.

2.- ON THE CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM:

- Increases the cardiac cavity, ie the size of the heart.
- It thickens and strengthens the heart wall.
- Decreases resting heart rate.
- Improves blood supply.
- Reduces the risk of heart disease.

3.- ON THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM:

- Increased Lung Capacity (Improve inspiration and expiration).
- Increase the efficiency of the respiratory muscles.
- Improve oxygen uptake and CO2 elimination.

4.- THE NERVOUS SYSTEM:

Healthy habits of physical activity in primary

Primary Physical Education gives students a series of healthy habits through physical activity and sport. During these days we will see the different contributions of physical activity in the physical and personal development of our students.

Physical activity at school level provides a set of habits in our students: physical habits, hygiene, food and posture.

How general analysis we will explain each of these habits and their importance to our students:

- The physical habits make a clear reference to the physical activity itself and what it can provide to our students. We will see the benefits to physical, psychological and socio-emotional and above all the importance to overall health.

- With regard to hygiene habits, will see the importance of hygiene in the sport and how we can work on this in our area.

- Food or eating habits are very important when it comes to sports. In our area we encourage the practice of healthy eating and healthy, providing the body with the nutrients needed for practice, and how to avoid eating disorders such as bulimia or anorexia, to name a few.

- Also work postural habits and the importance this has on Primary and amend the sooner the better conditions possible for our students.

Primary physical activity is of great importance, not only at the motor or the promotion of values but a half to avoid disruptions in our students and the teacher must be aware of it, be formed and act accordingly.

The teacher as builder of values

Following the previous articles the last step to develop concerning securities before going to develop other specific issues in our area.

Undoubtedly, it is still the most interesting for the educator. Education is not neutral and the teacher's influence in the education of the students is a reality. Trepat (1995) considers that the younger, the greater the influence of ethical behavior on the student teacher, and learning that it is subject to the teacher or coach.

The teacher takes on values in your life, both professionally and personally. And in teaching practice take place which are most important to foster in students. It is important that there is consistency between the ideals, standards and, above all, attitudes of the teacher and what is involved throughout the sessions. To cite one example, the teacher asks students punctuality, respect ... must be consistent with what he preaches.

Then we'll see some actions that the teacher can take to instill in students positive values, these actions are:
- Remove the possibility of creating groups, because in this way can foster competition and aggression between members of different groups. A measure to prevent this is to be rotated to the students when carrying out activities to encourage participation of all students in all.
- Avoid setting differences between skilled and less skilled.
- Consider physical activity and sport as a means of promoting healthy habits, as food, hygiene, posture and physical activity. These habits become part of the lifestyle of our students.
- Promote cooperation among group members when making activities, whether individual or cooperative.
- Do not show preference for one or another student, everyone is equal and that we must try in teaching practice.
- Avoid aggressive at all times and make it clear from the outset what are the rules to be followed by the group to avoid further mishaps.
- Prevent the competition is equated with superiority, since not a few who consider the victory under the failure of others.
- We encourage creativity in our students, through the practice of innovative activities, to make our students think and to take personal initiatives. As well as conducting materials, either within our area or elsewhere.
- Do not give real importance to the outcome, ie, to encourage participation and evaluate the teaching-learning process over results.
- Avoid any kind of discrimination in the classroom.
- We must avoid infringement of the rules, to hold our students.
- Discuss in class the incident in the great sporting events and reflect on the impact these have on the media and its influence on the population.
- And in my opinion one of the most important, which I quoted at the beginning, act consistently. The student will take as a benchmark figure of the teacher, which look like a mirror, so you have to be consistent and the teacher has to be the first thing you should do things properly.

The values in physical activity and sport II

Juan Carlos Jimenez defined in his book "The value of the securities in the organizations' values and principles that allow us to guide our behavior according to realize ourselves as people. Are fundamental beliefs that help us to prefer, appreciate and choose some things over others, or behavior instead. They are also a source of satisfaction and fulfillment.

The values are also the basis for living in community and relate to others. Can regulate our behavior to the collective welfare and harmonious coexistence.

Perhaps for this reason we tend to relate them according to rules and norms of behavior, but they are making. That is, decide to act in one way rather than another based on what is important to us as a value. Decide to believe in it and deem it a special way.

Having seen the meaning of value, we will relate directly to sport. We must remember that values are acquired, each person gets a set of values as he sees in his friends, teachers, but especially in his family. The boy spends much of his time at home with his family and everything should start from there.

In the school, the teacher must be the principal point of reference for instilling values in students, and physical activity and sport are the main means to achieve this. A teacher trained and aware will be able to instill positive values in students, encouraging participation, eliminating aggressive behaviors, promoting non-discrimination and social inclusion if applicable.

The sport will help us achieve this and then we'll see what we promote, through sport:

1.- The fair play (non-violence): The sport should promote fair play, avoiding aggressive situations at all times and making it clear that the sport is for fun and participate over the result.

2.- Interculturalism (not racism) and social integration: The sport should support the union over sex, religions, cultures, etc..

3.- The care for the environment: The practice of sport is not always performed in confined spaces, there are sports activities that take place outdoors: hiking, climbing, orienteering ... outdoor activities which enable us to promote the feeling of respect to this. In the classroom we can also promote environmental stewardship through activities using recycled materials to name a few.

4.- Solidarity: The sport is often a collective element where participation should be the main focus over winning or losing.

5.- Healthy Habits: The sport combines many healthy habits, hygiene, nutrition, postural habits and exercise. The close relationship between sport, physical activity and health is demonstrated in this section and enter some other time to develop more deeply because of the importance this has for our students.

6.- The courage and overcoming: There will be a positive value as long as they respect the opposite. Autosuperarse undoubtedly positive but as long as they do with respect to the contrary and without mocking it.

7.- The friendship and companionship: This is an essential aspect of sport as a value. On top of winning or losing, it must be companionship, allowing anyone to participate in an activity and give the same opportunity to other colleagues over the self-satisfaction.

The issue of values in sport to much more, since it is a very important section within the educational environment. In our curriculum is not a clear reference to these and not given the importance they should have in order to train students to be citizens of tomorrow.

The values in physical activity and sport

Before starting to implement Article we ask some questions What teaching professionals receive training to teach values? Do you know how to leverage them? It is important to answer these two questions to see if the process of values education can take place.

In addition to these personal factors dependent on the teacher, there are some external factors are equally important. Do you think there is a contradiction between what education advocates and what society says?

Camps (1994) raised it worth teaching and instilling moral values about children who must move and highlight possible in a society that has no respect these values? At the most it does the responsibility for solving the crisis of values is on legislators, schools and teachers, or the entire school community? We can not think that teaching is a panacea that will remedy the evil example of all the community in all its omissions, conscious or not.

There are two ways to transmit values, attitudes unconsciously or teach it in a planned and structured. At school there is no subject area or towards the development of these, no longer values education in an element that is part of the hidden curriculum and legitimate consciously or not show up within the school curriculum.

The LOGSE, is considered the treatment of affective domain or scope through cross-cutting themes and content introduced in the curriculum but they are necessary, in accordance with Devis Devis (1996), clear proposals that go beyond the bureaucratic formality. Overcoming the barrier between illusion and reality becomes a target and property not only teachers, but also legislators. Do not forget that even if not collected within any curriculum EF explicitly, a specific function would be the "moralizing" has already started in England in the nineteenth century and its "Public School" and, if we go back again in Italy in the fifteenth century at the "House Giocosa."
Focusing on the area of Physical Education, how to address the physical activity and sporting development of values? What could be more suitable ways to achieve educational action we want?
In this sense we must say that at all times every society has used methods to make individuals take significant values of their culture.
Ana Maria Gonzales Garza summed into four main groups:
1. The group of "tax method" widely used in the conservative educational system, where an authority imposes obligations, penalties, manages and prevents freedom of choice
2. The fall group where "moral method" represented by the old adage "Do as I say not as I do". Here the values are transmitted through sermons, advice, pre-established rules, looking for the individual to live according to values that are incorporated in this way.
3. The group where the "laissez-faire methods or laissez-faire". Here the authority is not involved or committed, leaving the individual in total freedom. This method is intended that the individual himself arrives to discover the values, if you choose right or wrong, is their problem.
4. The group of "Methods proclaiming humanism," which are based on offering non-tax values, from sharing the experience, while respecting the other's experience, especially in open living committed and consistent with the values upheld.

For Le Boulch "a sport is educational when it allows the development of motor and psychomotor skills in relation to the affective, cognitive and social personality." That is, it is not only an education for knowledge (technical, individual fundamentals, tactics ,...) as traditionally had been passed, but also and above all an education in skills configured in the global scope of the personality of the child a series of eigenvalues of the work they do (not cyclical or your own company) and to help you train as a person over the beliefs, ideas and ideologies, without any doubt, can be seen embedded. These contribute to the formation and not solely to information. And still Seirul.lo that sport is educational reference containing values of autonomy and freedom, among others.
In short, "the sport (...) should be based on science to set up a kind of practice that commits entirely to the personality of the athlete. The education of sporting practices is not just learning the techniques, tactics, specific benefits, ... but also that the individual is set as a person. "

Iphone and ipad applications for Physical Education

ICT can be used in any area of education, as there are computer programs which develop activities, we may also use other means to develop ICT in Physical Education. At this time we will see some applications both the iphone and the iphone that can be used in our area.

First we must realize that the range is not wide enough, since there is almost no proper application of our area, although some other applications may use to promote and develop interdisciplinarity between areas, because we are committed to comprehensive education the individual.

I found a number of applications that can help us to use within our area, these applications are:
- IStudiez: With this application you can organize your classes and record your homework assignments, average grades, checklists and more with this app designed specifically for the busy life of a teacher.
- Handwriting: An application that simulates a blank page, you can draw her to explain or write the session that you plan to make, and any notes that may happen during the session.
- Penultimate: It's an application similar to the previous one, is a white sheet that can be used for any purpose. An advantage of this type of application is the order can have, and that all entries are in one place, avoiding possible entries in leaves and elsewhere.
- Maps: Geographical application practice sessions outside the center, to situate and to let students know where they go, learning to turn geography. With this application we can even teach measuring distances between two points. But its main use is for students to learn to be in the city where they live and have a broader view of it, as well as the possibility to know the main monuments in it.
- Mental Calculation: As the name suggests this is about calculation application, application usable for students to reason in some games or activities, thereby promoting interdisciplinarity between the area of Mathematics and Physical Education.

There are many applications in science, musculoskeletal system conducted over the health field in mathematics (scientific calculators, math, etc..), Child-driven applications and so on.

In short, these applications can be a new element to be used by the PE teacher to develop our own content area.

ICT in Physical Education

What are ICTs? ICTs are technologies of the Information and Communication, more commonly speaking the use of new technologies to develop content specific to our area.

Many are the new proposals in this regard and which may become. Any students who are in Primary have minimal computer knowledge and Internet search, we have to promote the use of new technologies in a safe and effective.

In our area we can use different programs to work their own content area, programs like jclic, atenex or hot potatoes, among others. In this blog post work done with these programs to develop physical education content. As a basic guide to pdoer develop activities using these programs.

ICTs are not only aimed at developing activities through the computer, but through any electronic whiteboard as may be or new tablets appeared on the market that will undoubtedly facilitate our task. Of these methods is also discussed in the blog successive entries.

In short, we must adapt to the times, not only to develop activities and content that are developed today, from my point of view by a special reference to instill values that can be through physical activity and sport, but also in the methods used by the teacher to teach the subject.
